Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to the TagDev Field Force and TagDev Connect applications (collectively, "the Apps"), developed and operated by the TAGDev Program (Transforming African Agricultural Development) at Egerton University. By using the Apps, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

Name, email address, phone number, and user role/type.

b) Profile Information

Location, skills, education, farm details (for farmers), business information, and profile photos.

c) Field Data (TagDev Field Force)

GPS coordinates, photos of planted trees, farmer profiles, climate smart practice audit results, and event check-in records.

d) Device Information

Device type, operating system, and app version.

e) Usage Data

Feature usage patterns, timestamps, and data sync activity.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain the platform services
• Track agricultural program outcomes (tree planting, climate practices)
• Match youth with job and grant opportunities
• Generate program reports for development partners
• Send notifications about events, opportunities, and program updates
• Improve platform functionality and user experience

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure hosted in the EU (Frankfurt region). The TagDev Field Force app stores data locally on your device using SQLite and syncs to the cloud when a network connection is available. All data transfers use HTTPS/TLS encryption. Access is restricted through role-based permissions.

5. Data Sharing

• We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
• Aggregated, anonymized data may be shared with development partners for program impact reporting.
• Data may be accessed by authorized TAGDev staff (M&E Managers, Team Leads) for program management purposes.
• We may disclose data if required by applicable law.

6. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Field data (trees, climate practices) is retained for the duration of program reporting. After account deletion, personal identifiers are removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregate program data may be retained indefinitely for impact reporting purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data through your app profile
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data via our Data Deletion Request page

8. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
